Objectives
The international network will connect eco activists of 15-24 years old to learn, grow and act together, demonstrating true cross-country collaboration to tackle climate change problems that do not have borders. The key objective of the network is to promote a sustainable development culture and spearhead climate resilience and mitigation interventions at national and international levels. Young Climate Champions will lead awareness-raising among their peers and younger children, contribute to development of youth-friendly information and materials on climate change, conduct information campaigns and other youth eco events, and participate in advocacy at national and international levels.
The volunteering programme will assist in achieving the following targets:
- Increased awareness of climate change and climate actions among the population, especially children and youth
- Strengthened attitude and behaviour changes among children and youth for sustainable development
- Increased participation and civic engagement in areas related to climate change, mitigation, adaptation and resilience among young people
- Increased interest of young people in continuing their education and career in climate-related spheres
- Increased access of young people to practical knowledge, skills and initial experience to begin their professional journey
How the programme will work?
An international network of “Young Climate Champions” will unite eco-activists of such national programmes as Youth Climate Envoys, Youth4Climate, BeGreen, BeSafe and other from eight countries. Young people will continue their work in line with the national targets and priorities. Additionally, they will collaborate by sharing experience, resources, and best practices, organizing regional joint information campaigns, online and in-person eco-initiatives. Young Climate Champions will join their efforts to advocate for adaptation and mitigation climate actions in the region.
