“Zerafshan” Nature Reserve
Address: Located in Sughd Region, Panjakent city, Tajikistan.
Established in 1976. Area – 2,300 hectares. Unique flora and fauna representatives – ibex, snow leopard, marmot, pheasant, Bukhara deer.

The Zerafshan Nature Reserve (Zerafshan Reserve) is a nature reserve in Tajikistan, created to protect unique ecosystems and rare species of plants and animals in the Zarafshan River basin. This reserve is one of the key zones for the protection of biodiversity in the region and covers an area of ​​about 24 thousand hectares, including mountain and forest areas. It is home to rare species of animals such as the Bukhara deer (Hangul), snow leopard, wild boar, as well as various species of birds and reptiles.

 

The Zarafshan Reserve also plays an important role in protecting water resources and preventing soil erosion, which is especially important for supporting ecosystems and agriculture in the region.
